We last wrote about Miksim in January, when the Karnataka College of Nursing reopened for both online and “offline” (ie in person) classes. Unfortunately the College hostel in Bengaluru remained closed, so Miksim had to stay in Sikkim working online until the hostel opened in March. From then on it was not at all straightforward, as restrictions came and went. College full re-opened in August 2021, since when she has been catching up on practical classes.

Come the middle of November, she was able to sit her year end exams, and passed through to the second year. Given all of the circumstances we have to say very well done and congratulations!

She is now on holiday but is working on her project “Nursing Care Plan for Dengue Fever”. Dengue fever is a endemic in India, and not at all pleasant, and Topden in Dehradun found out when he caught it last year.

Although Miksim could go home, she is staying at the hostel in Bengaluru because there might be more catch-up practical classes. We recently funded her purchase of a blood pressure cuff, so I expect she is keen to practice….
