When our trustee Paul Thomson signed up to do the Ariégoise 2018, he did express some doubts about whether he would finish. As we explained in our 12 June post, this event for dedicated amateur club cyclists is set in the Pyrénées. The route is just short of 4 marathons back to back, but travelling up and down and up and down, peaking 1100m higher than the start.

In the event, Paul was successful on the day. In his own words:

“It all went well. In numbers, 5hrs20 minutes, 105 km, 2,870 calories, top speed 63 km/h and 33 degrees on the last climb (far too hot). It was a great event and our team all finished their routes. “

Congratulations to Paul, and many thanks for the money that he raised!
