January 2017
As Chair of the Trustees I have been fortunate enough to travel to Sikkim six times since 2002 as a volunteer teacher. I first met Hissey in 2004. She was a happy friendly girl but shy with people she didn’t know. She did well through primary school and then went on to Dr Graham’s. In 2017 she will take her year 12 exams and hopefully go on to college as her school reports are positive. She has always been very affectionate and is good at keeping in touch via letters, text and social media. I always look forward to seeing her when I visit

Update 2021
Hissey succeeded in gaining a place at Mt Carmel College in Bengaluru to study Journalism and Political Science. In 2017 and 2019 during biennial Trustee visits to India, we met her in Bengaluru and found her very settled and happy. She graduated in 2020 with First Class Honours with Distinction. Needless to say we are very proud of her. Because of the disruption caused by the pandemic she could not apply in time to for her Masters in 2020, but was able to start recently in November 2021 at Sikkim University, studying International Relations.
